Today, we face problems of abundance.
Abundant products mean customers and brands grapple with discovery (who wants what?) and abundant content means that readers and writers struggle with context (who knows what?).
The marginal cost of production for products and content is rapidly decreasing, and our current distribution mechanisms (ad platforms, blunt search) are insufficient.
Abundance problems affect both consumption (consumers can’t handle the firehose of products / content) and production (oversupply of products that go into sale / lack of ‘on-ramps’ to participation in content on the web).
If we can solve distribution for the abundance era, we can not only help people consume what currently exists in a way better suited to their needs, but help people inform what is put into production, or produce themselves (when they wouldn’t have done previously).
If you’re working on abundance problems, I’d love to chat!
